Connect, integrate, and customize your organization’s applications
and data to create a powerful flow of information that enables
smarter decisions and a more productive workforce. By taking
advantage of emerging industry standards, you can extend
Microsoft Dynamics GP to better connect information, people,
systems, and devices, share data more easily, integrate processes,
and manage change in a demanding business climate.
The Developer Toolkit for Microsoft Dynamics GP delivers documentation,
samples, and command-line tools and compilers to help developers
create and deploy .NET Framework applications. Designed to enhance the
extensibility of Microsoft Dynamics GP, this toolkit empowers developers to
utilize Microsoft® technologies and tools built around .NET, helping reduce
complexity and costs for IT development work. Components include:
• Microsoft Visual Studio® Tools
• Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP
• eConnect
Each of these components includes a run-time version for deploying
solutions that have been developed by your Microsoft authorized reseller or
another independent software vendor (ISV).
The Developer Toolkit is available for use by Microsoft partners to develop
solutions for Microsoft Dynamics GP Standard and Professional and
Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Essentials and Advanced Management.
The Toolkit is also available for direct purchase by Microsoft Dynamics GP
Professional or Advanced Management customers.
Increase the value of existing IT
investments
Improve data-sharing
capabilities and integrate and automate
business processes using Microsoft
SQL Server, Visual Studio, and the
Microsoft .NET Framework, as well as
industry standards such as Web services
and Extensible Markup Language
(XML).
Simplify integrations
A commonx
technology toolset enables developers
to include functionality in a program
without having to understand the
underlying business logic or complexity
of the Web service they are connecting
with, or reinvent their integrations each
time a new Microsoft Dynamics GP
version is released.
Reduce development costs
Developers can work within their
existing development environment,
using industry-standard products and
technologies such as Visual Studio,
Dexterity®, and other development
programming tools. Web Services
for Microsoft Dynamics GP helps
shorten development time to reduce
integration, development, and
maintenance costs.
Eliminate data re-entry
Enable
businesses with existing online
storefronts, industry-standard Web
services, or other data sources to
integrate seamlessly to Microsoft
Dynamics GP. |
| Developer Toolkit Features |
Industry-Standard Tools and
Languages |
Move data in and out of Microsoft Dynamics GP using tools and
languages that are familiar to developers, including Visual Studio, the
.NET framework, and XML. |
| Extensible Web Services |
Integrate data from and maximize interoperability with external data
sources with Microsoft Dynamics GP—including Web services, CRM
applications, Web storefronts, and legacy application—using developer
tools that use a series of transactional business objects that enable
communication with programs written in different programming
languages on different platforms, and in a standards-based way.
Process data through business logic contained in Microsoft Dynamics
GP, helping ensure that data meets the processing criteria before being
committed to the database. |
| Visual Studio Tools |
Using Microsoft Dynamics GP templates that install as add-ins to
Visual Studio, create forms consistent with the look and experience of
native Microsoft Dynamics GP forms. Create client-side extensibility
for Microsoft Dynamics GP through industry-standard tools such as
Visual Studio .NET. Visual Studio tools may be used separately or in
concert with Dexterity, the native Microsoft Dynamics GP programming
language. |
| eConnect |
eConnect offers fast and accurate integration from outside data sources
to Microsoft Dynamics GP. eConnect is also the underlying connection
mechanism for Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP, and may be
used directly for integration points within Microsoft Dynamics GP where
Web Services have not yet been developed and eConnect schemas
already exist. |
| Consistent Event Model |
Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP enables easier extensibility
across various business scenarios. Multiple integrations can be built
on the same service or service operation to allow many different
integrating products to react to events happening within Web Services.
For example, saving a customer record utilizing these Web Services
could trigger an event to populate data within a third-party developer’s
table by utilizing Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP eventing
capabilities. |
| Extensible Policy/Behavior Model |
By enabling specific default behaviors for custom integrations or addons,
developers can work flexibly to define how integrating applications
create data within Microsoft Dynamics GP. Developers can utilize
existing Microsoft Dynamics GP application policies and behaviors,
and/or create their own within this policy/behavior subsystem. |
| Item Tracking |
ISVs can enable security for their own services and other third-party
products, build their own Web Services security framework, and
manage security from one centralized console. Web Services will also
support integrated security for Microsoft Windows® operating systems. |
